An apprenticeship offers you a great opportunity to gain a qualification whilst earning a wage and without accumulating the debts associated with study.
Real work experience is crucial as you start to build your career and by the end of your apprenticeship you will have at least two years' of working in a nurturing environment.
We also have an excellent record of retaining our apprentices beyond their apprenticeship course, securing permanent roles for those wanting to stay in the council.
Your starting salary will be £7.49 an hour in your first year.During your second year you will remain on this amount or the minimum wage for your age, whichever is higher.
We can also offer you 26 days annual leave plus bank holidays, an excellent pension and a number of discounts including gym membership.

APPRENTICE - Roadworker
Highways are looking for an Apprentice to join their operations team.
This is a great opportunity to join a team undertaking repairs and improvements to all the Borough's highways and its assets.
You will be trained and mentored by skilled craftsmen and the management team and attend college a day a week to build upon skills learnt.
Areas of development will include; handling materials such as tarmac, concrete, flags and kerbs, carrying out road and footway defect repairs to a high standard, excavating trial holes and footings / trenches by hand, operating hand held machinery such as breakers, rollers and Stihl saws and much more.
