Job Purpose
We are seeking a Senior Solution Architect specialising in desktop virtualisation to join our growing Architecture team.

As Senior Solution Architect, you will be responsible for defining end to end virtual desktop capability solutions to meet the functionaland non-functional requirements of the end customer while ensuring it is costed, delivered to specification and can be operated.


This is an "internal" role with you being the architectural SME for all End User Computing within Calyx, specifically within the virtual desktop infrastructure space.


This is an excellent role for an infrastructure architect with specialist knowledge in client desktop virtualisation, Citrix and Azure to play a key role in Calyx's ongoing cloud journey.

You will design roadmaps utilising these technologies, working closelywith the broader project team to delivery this transformation across the business.


Role Responsibilities

  • Leads the development of systems architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas.
  • Ensures that appropriate tools and methods are available, understood and employed in architecture development.
  • Within a change programme, leads the preparation of technical plans and, in liaison with business assurance and project staff, ensures that appropriate technical resources are made available.
  • Provides advice on technical aspects of solution development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.) and ensures that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security) areapplied correctly.
  • Designs large or complex systems.
  • Undertakes impact analysis on major design options and tradeoffs, makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks.
  • Reviews others' systems designs to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources, and integration of multiple systems and technology. Ensures that the system design balances functional and nonfunctional requirements.
  • Contributes to development of systems design policies and standards and selection of architecture components.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience architecting infrastructure solutions, specifically utilising client desktop virtualisation, Azure and Citrix.
  • Demonstrable experience in technical delivery with a proven record in undertaking design and architecture activities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail
  • Relevant design qualification (eg TOGAF) would be helpful but not essential.
