About the role:

The Senior Employer Services Consultant is responsible for supporting our employability programmes in Tees Valley to achieve their contractual targets.

This will be done through building and maintaining relationships with employers in the Tees Valley area, creating sustainable job opportunities suitable for the participants on our caseloads.

This role will mainly focus on volume sustainable employment opportunities as well as promoting collaborative working with employers to support upcoming and ongoing recruitment drives.

You will manage large, regional employers to secure bulk vacancies and work collaboratively with the Employer Services Consultant(s) ensuring we fill as many of the roles as possible through our caseload of participants.

You will work closely with the skills team to develop training solutions to meet employer/sector needs, aligning vacancies to our curriculum plan.


You will report to the Employer Services Team Manager and work closely with all Employer Services roles and the wider operational team(s).

As this is a Senior Employer Services Role, you will also be responsible for leading by example and supporting the Employer Services Consultants as required.

Required criteria:


  • More than 2 years' experience and a track record of success working in a sales environment, account management or business development role.
  • Experience of successfully managing large employer accounts.
  • Experience of using a CRM to manage employer activity/performance and forecasting future labour market tends.
  • Able to motivate and drive own activity to ensure targets/KPI's are achieved.
  • Experience of working as part of a service delivery team, in which the delivery of services you have sold is carried out by other individuals/teams with whom you collaborate with.
  • Evidence of Employer Services Consultant attributes such as Challenge and Resilience, Flexibility and Adaptability, Honesty and Integrity, Impactful Communication, Planning and Decision Making, Selling and Influencing and Team Orientation.
  • Technical skills including good knowledge of the local labour market and knowledge of employment legislation governing recruitment practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation skills, organisational and time management skills with the ability to build professional relationships effectively.
  • Networking skills and experience at a senior level to influence third party relationships, such as employers, local authorities and / or funding groups.
  • Experience of completing employer/training needs analysis to fully understand an employer's recruitment/training needs and where possible, link these requirements to Triage services.
  • Experience of working in recruitment, publicly funded services, or other similar sectors.
  • Senior level employer relationshipmanagement experience with large scale / volume employer requirements
  • Experience of working in a performance target driven environment
  • Peer to peer influencing skills, ensuring everyone is working collectively and effectively towards the same goal.
  • Experience of working with disadvantaged participant groups in the delivery of customer services and be able to demonstrate genuine passion about their growth, development, and progression.
  • A willingness to go the extra mile and strive for excellence in all tasks
  • Experience of delivering recruitment or assessment processes
  • Due to the barriers some of our participants may experience, have the ability and emotional intelligence to overcome employer perceptions and promote and educate them on schemes such Disability Confident, Access to Work. Ban the Box etc.
  • The ability to work under own initiative and think outside the box.
  • Driver and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable criteria:


  • Membership or accreditation of relevant recruitment practices / groups relevant to the sector or role, such as Recruitment & Employment Confederation, Certificate in Recruitment Practice.
  • Other desirable criteria including preexisting network of employer contacts in the local area; the ability to use qualitative mechanisms to deliver continuous improvement to service delivery; a proactive 'cando' attitude and a track record of driving positive change.
Leadership/strategic engagement experience.
