Description

The post holder will provide an efficient secretarial/personal assistant service to the Consultants and their team in respect of NHS work within the Gastroenterology Directorate.


  • To act as the primary point of contact for patients and medical staff on behalf of the Consultants and their teams, ensuring all queries are answered with skill, sensitivity and in a courteous, caring and professional manner
  • To develop effective communication with clinical and administrative personnel within the Gastroenterology Directorate, other Directorates and other departments to establish good working relationships in order to improve the coordination of the patient journey
  • Accurately inform patients/clinicians of outcomes and information to influence the effective service delivery for all patients including access plan (patient waiting list) queries
  • To arrange attendance or admission to hospital and liaise with patients including any transport or interpreter services required. To book investigations and liaise with the outpatient team to ensure outpatient appointments are booked
