Job summary:
Do you want to work for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) and care for the Defence Estate? DIO enables Defence to live, work, train and deploy, all with sustainability in mind.
Job description:
The Data Exploitation team's role in DIO is to deliver services to the whole organisation to manage and exploit data.
- THIS REQUIRES OUR TEAM TO:
- Gather and assure data and knowledge of all kinds (one source of the truth
- that is reused again and again).
- Make excellent management information, reporting and business intelligence available (so everyone can see how they are performing).
- Provide an analytics capability to turn data and information into insight for business cases and decision making (in a fast, and flexible way).
- Build capability and skills right across DIO in data management and analytics.
- Provide governance and verification and validation for any data or analytics used for major decisions (so decision makers know they can rely on the figures).
This role is based within DEx's Customer facing function focused on defining, developing, exploiting and supporting the capabilities to enable the wider DIO to generate significant business benefit in using data for reporting, management information and analytics.
It achieves this through the scoping of user requirements, Portfolio Management, rapid release management using agile techniques and supporting end users through training, documentation, specialist development and capabilities and support via a help desk.
The Customer facing function is a critical component in enabling DEx to provide expertise and insight to the wider DIO as well as delivering self-service abilities to the other MOD Departments.
The Assistant Head of Customer Engagement is one of two leads in providing a coherent 'front door' to their part of the DEx customer base and is therefore the person on point for promoting DEx's capabilities to their customers as well as being responsible for the delivery of outputs to meet customer requirements.
As such, the post is overseeing the full range of DEx capabilities from requirements definition and sign-off, planning and benefits capture, through to tracking and assurance of delivery, end user training, testing and support.
These activities are supported by a team of specialist resources managed by the Head of Customer Engagement & PfMO, so form part of the same overall team.
This post must provide leadership and knowledge on the scale and implementation of DEx capabilities as well as ongoing management and awareness of the delivery activity to provide an excellent level of customer experience.
To deliver this remit successfully the postholder must interact with stakeholders at all levels across DIO as well as the DEx functions as a whole.
The postholder must have credibility based upon familiarity of DEx capability, a strategic sense of business priorities and a tactical ability to translate business imperatives into a defined programmatic view of outputs delivered by DEx to drive the business forward.
