What's the scope of the role?_**The Data Governance Lead resides within the Business Improvement function and will play a crucial role in driving changes across our business based on tangible and measurable insights, as well as building this critical strategic capability.


Your role will be to provide the strategic direction to the business data, providing high quality governance, oversight and support in data management, ensuring that we protect and gain optimum value from high quality data across our business.


Data management is the dynamic process employed to support the acquisition, organisation, analysis, and delivery of data in support of business objectives.


_What you'll be doing day to day._
You'll define and implement an
Enterprise Data Management Strategy, which systematically grows the components of a data governance framework, whilst simultaneously demonstrating tangible results from data in targeted areas, in addition to;

  • Help the business
    make better strategic decisions through data, practically demonstrating where value can be gained from this hugely valuable and often hard to access asset (our data)

Enable data access and utilisation, including through defining the requirements needed from the IT tools and infrastructure (delivery and maintenance of those tools by our IT function)

  • Promote the
    maintenance of our data governance assets, specifically data quality, data governance and metadata.
  • Build a positive and responsible
    'data culture', helping people to value and trust data, whilst also knowing the role that they play in that.

What do you need to be great at this role?_**You will be educated to degree level with proven experience in data analysis, specifically data quality assessment and data governance in a business outcome driven environment.

Proven experience using Data Governance specific tools used for data discovery and assessment.

  • Solid knowledge of Data Governance, workflow, and tooling.
  • Ability to prioritise and execute against critical deliverables, coupled with a sense of personal ownership for delivery.
  • Understanding of broader data management capabilities and alignment with business goals.
  • Proven record of building trusting and credible relationships at all working levels of an organisation, including driving a behavioural and culture change agenda.
  • Leadership style that builds a sense of trust, empowerment and support within a team, whilst maintaining their personal accountability for benefit delivery.
