As part of our on-going growth, we are now looking to expand our team and have a new vacancy for an Accounts Clerk.


Reporting to daily the Finanacial Director at our HQ in Blackburn, your role will be key to maintain accurate financial records, processing transactions, and providing essential financial support to the company.

Your attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and proficiency in bookkeeping software will be vital to ensure the smooth operation of our financial processes.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Accurately record and maintain accurate and uptodate records of financial transactions in the company's accounting software.
  • Montor & record petty cash transactions.
  • Allocate & reconcile bank transactions for accounts receivable.
  • Credit Control
  • Credit check and monitor customer credit levels and terms.
  • Maintain regular customer contact by written and verbal reminders to ensure overdue payments are kept to a minimum.
  • Allocate & reconcile bank transactions for accounts payable.
  • Ensure all bills are accurately uploaded are allocated to Purchase Orders and match supplier statements.
  • Monitor and prepare expense claim payments.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs.
  • Assist both Sales and Purchase ledger teams with customer and supplier financial queries.
  • Assist department managers by providing regular financial reports incl. debtor and creditor lists, credit checks, expenses etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and liaise with the company's accountant.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and legislation.

Qualifications and Skills;

  • Proven experience as an Acconts Clerk or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage).
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude always demonstrating discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and familiarity with VAT returns (desirable).
  • Professional certification in bookkeeping (desirable but not essential)

Salary:

£2- 27,000 p/a dependant on experience.


Hours of work:

Full time role of approx. 40h per week. This is a Monday - Friday office-based role. Mon-Wed 8.30am-5pm, Thursday 8-5pm and Friday 8-4pm
