  • You will be involved in delivery of the School Nursing course. You will report to the Associate Professor
  • Community Nursing and participate in teaching activities and supporting students on placement. The University is committed to staff development and you will be required to produce research outputs on an annual basis. Senior Lecturer in School Nursing
Faculty/Directorate:Health and Social Care Professions

Location: High Wycombe, with travel to other campuses as required

Responsible to: Associate Professor in Community Nursing
Job Purpose:


  • Teach and support students by adopting a learnercentred approach, delivering a firstclass student experience.
  • Undertake research, professional practice and enterprise activity as outlined within the BNU Academic Framework
  • Be a teamplayer and contribute to the wider work of the School and University
  • Practice an inclusive approach and support building an inclusive university community where people can be themselves

Main Duties & Responsibilities of the role:

  • To design and deliver high quality, innovative and challenging learning experiences, using current theory and practice together in lively debate.
  • To undertake associated activities in connection with the courses taught including module leadership, curriculum development, personal tutoring, recruitment, assessment, review and evaluation.
  • To contribute to the student experience
  • demonstrating an awareness of the need for 'customer focus' in respect of resolving issues.
  • To conduct research and scholarly activity of relevance to the lecturing role and / or professional practice and aligns own research with teaching and learning.
  • To engage with business and professional networks to promote teaching and learning and research in a professional context.
  • To contribute to open days, school, college and partnership links and the promotional work of the department.
  • To support students in supervising placements, learning in practice, internships and work-related activities.
  • To deliver pastoral care and project supervision of students.
  • To plan and deliver the curriculum using appropriate media, including the use of IT.
  • To provide effective feedback, support and guidance to students, which promotes improvement of performance.
  • To engage in professional development activities (e.g. CPD, attendance at conferences) relating to teaching, learning and assessment.
  • To maintain and foster the high reputation of the University in practice partner settings.
  • Any other such reasonable duties as required by the Head of School / Associate Head of School.
  • Comply with relevant legislative and other requirements (e.g., the Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR; Health and Safety; UKVI; and Equality and Diversity) in all working practices.
  • Such other duties temporarily or on a continuing basis, as may reasonably be required.
