An opportunity has arisen in the Planning and Student Management Information team within our Student & Academic Services directorate.

The post will support the achievement of the Aston Strategy 2018 to 2023, through the coordination and development of key student statutory returns.

The post holder will be responsible for coordinating key returns such as the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) Student Return, the Higher Education Students Early Statistics (HESES) return, the Provider Profile return and the Unistats return.

The post holder will also be responsible for the coordination, development and technical implementation of the Data Futures reporting initiative at Aston University.


The post holder will be required to work closely with a range of stakeholders, both across the University and wider sector, as part of the development of our statutory student returns.

The post holder will also be required to pro-actively engage with relevant forums and interest groups as part of developing our external returns.

The post holder will be a key point of contact for stakeholders across the University in sharing expertise and best practice guidance in relation to our student returns.


You will be experienced in the development and coordination of student statutory returns, with previous experience in data analysis and management information reporting.

You will be able to work flexibly and productively, both as part of a team and as an individual; and be able to work under pressure to tight time scales.

The ability to work effectively with colleagues, particularly with regard to driving quality and development in student data reporting is essential.
