The role:


The Senior Compliance Monitoring Officer will be responsible for executing monitoring tasks against the Group Compliance Monitoring & Reporting Plan.

Group Compliance Monitoring plays a critical role as the 2nd line of defense in monitoring the effectiveness of Aspens risk controls.

Key accountabilities:

Strategy and Planning

  • To manage incoming advisory queries within such Frameworks as licensing, Conflicts of Interest, Business Gifts & Entertainment ('the Frameworks').
  • To collate monthly MI for the use in regular reporting
  • To actively contribute to the Compliance Team meetings to promote effective compliance management within Aspen.
  • Queries from the business that are triaged, those assigned to the Analysts are managed effectively, responded to in line with regulations and within SLA's.
  • The monthly MI is available for the Compliance Team by the deadline every month, unless otherwise agreed.
  • Feedback from the Group Head of Compliance and other Senior
  • Compliance Managers cites contributions to the Compliance Team
- meetings have supported compliance initiative

Policy, Process and Procedures

  • To assist and support with the development, enhancement and maintenance of the Frameworks supporting key regulatory risks within Aspen.
  • To help develop and maintain Compliance related policies and procedures
  • To provide technical support to Aspen functions in the development of their policies and procedures.
  • To assist with the identification where the Aspen regulated entities do not have sufficient coverage or controls in their policies and procedures and to make recommendations of how to strengthen them.
  • The Compliance plan highlights the frameworks which will include the key regulatory requirements and how Aspen is managing it (this will include local policies, procedures, training, MI, and controls).
  • Development and maintenance of a policy and procedure directory that is available to the Compliance team

Skills & experience:


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to details
  • 5+ years of relevant compliance and/or re/insurance audit experience
  • Strong knowledge of the re/insurance industry within an international organization
  • Demonstrates the ability to work well within a global team and manage priorities appropriately
  • Recognize compliance or regulatory concerns that require escalation.
  • Some understanding of the Compliance fundamentals, such as Financial Crime,
Conflicts of Interest, Whistleblowing and Compliance monitoring
