An opportunity has arisen to work in a family home to support a child with his complex health needs and to have some enjoyment and enrichment in his life.

As well as the regular health related tasks, applicants will take him for short walks, provide sensory play and provide entertainment for the child who is registered blind and uses a wheelchair.


Hours:

Up to 3 positions available part time / full time or job share - various working patterns - 12 hour waking night shifts throughout the year, 5-6 hour afternoon shifts during term time and various day shifts in school holidays.

Mid-week and weekend work needed. Applicants would need to be flexible with hours. You will be part of a team, working regular shifts on a rota basis.


Rate:
£12.50 per hour


Duties include:
Daily hygiene needs / personal care, chest physiotherapy and stretches.

As required - oxygen therapy, performing oral / nasal suction, administering medication including emergency medication if child has epilepsy seizure.

Full training will be given but experience would be welcomed


Essential:

Due to the child's impairment it is important that good, clear spoken communication is used with them, where English is his language.

Positive engagement between the client, family and other staff is essential.

Experienced or be willing to learn how to support people with complex health needs e.g., PEG feeding, moving & handling, medication (and other health needs).

A non-smoker, well-presented, punctual, reliable, polite, warm, friendly and able to develop good working relations with his family members.


Desirable:
Previous experience of a care role or with complex needs children. UK driving licence and be willing to drive adapted vehicle for school run and days out.

Successful applicants will undergo references and enhanced DBS criminal records check.
