Key Responsibilities:

The post sits under our registered charity Aberdeen Care and Repair department.

Aberdeen Care and Repair services offer personal, financial and technical support and advice to elderly and disabled people to allow them to continue to live within their own homes as independently as possible, including repairing, improving or adapting a home which is no longer suitable to the person's needs.


The post holder will be expected to provide a high quality comprehensive Small Repairs Service for Care and Repair clients by carrying out housing repairs, maintenance and small adaptations to their properties within Aberdeen City.


This will include:

  • Carry out allocated works orders in both occupied and unoccupied properties in line with Care and Repair's policies, and in accordance with the client's wished and ensure the work is to the client's satisfaction.
  • Visit the property and undertake an assessment of work required and liaise with Care & Repair Services staff to take the most appropriate action, order/purchase materials and undertake works.
  • Complete works orders and all relevant paperwork according to operational procedures
  • Be responsible for your own Health and Safety and advise Supervisor/Manager of any issues that may arise.

About you:


You will have a qualification in a trade discipline at SVQ Level 3 or equivalent and a significant level of experience working as a qualified tradesman in occupied properties, and previous experience of working in a trades environment.

You have experience of conducting risk assessments, and experience of assessing client needs of the necessary work/repairs required in their property, and knowledge and skill to estimate and control costs.


You have excellent communication skills with different ranging stakeholders, and you are able to manage your own workload timely, but you work seamlessly as a part of a team.

You have attention to detail to complete paperwork, client information and written correspondence accurately and to high standard, and you are able to evaluate each jobs requirements to meet the clients complex and ranging needs.


This role requires Driving licence as post holder is expected to use their on vehicle to travel to client homes to perform the role, and PVG Scheme record due to work with vulnerable adults.
