Job Title:
Principal Designer/CDM Advisor


Reporting to:
QHSE Manager


Responsible For:
None


Salary:
£55-62k plus £3k car allowance


Location of Role:
Home based with frequent travel throughout the UK and potentially abroad.


Job Purpose:


To work as Principal Designer/CDM Advisor and manage a wide variety of challenging and interesting projects covering many different construction sectors throughout the UK, including waste and power plant construction.

To help ensure that Cobalt Energy provides a first-class Principal Designer/CDM advisory service.

To contribute to the organisation's vision and strategic objective to provide a fully integrated, high-quality service to our clients.


Role and Responsibilities

  • To undertake Principal Designer duties, as defined by the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) and as otherwise required of the role, including site visits, preparation of the documentation, liaison with Principal Contractor and other associated duties.
  • To liaise and communicate with clients, designers, contractors, and others and to offer advice and guidance on CDM/health and safety issues.
  • To assist in the preparation of health and safety/CDM documentation for contractors and others.
  • To manage projects to the agreed project budgetary limits and timetables.
  • To attend design meetings, site meetings and carry out site inspections.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues and to keep them informed of issues on your projects.

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:


  • At least three years' relevant experience in the Health & Safety industry with a strong knowledge of CDM/Health and Safety issues in construction.
  • Relevant HNC, HND, BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in a related discipline.
  • CDM Project experience.
  • CDM Project Management experience.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent/higher.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of appropriate legislation.
  • A clean driver's license.
