Our client is a leading engineering consultancy who provide engineering and professional planning services to the power and renewable energy sectors in the UK.

We are recruiting for their structural and civil design team to work on overhead power lines thathelp link the large number of new renewable power projects across the UK to our power grid playing a vital role in reaching Net Zero.

They work closely with National Grid who are at the start of largest 10 year capital investment plan seen in a generation.

The job opportunity is offering some great training and support from senior engineers to help enhance your technical design skills alongwith support from a design engineer.

They are seeking someone who can grow in the role and who will benefit from promotions and pay rises as their technical skills progress.

The role

The role reports directly to the Director of Operations and forms part of a project design team responsible for successfully delivering the transmission projects.

The team are responsible for delivering these projects to cost, exacting standards and to projecttimescales from conception and detailed design and construction phases.

Job purpose;

  • Produce outline and detail design tasks for overhead line transmission design elements on a contract
  • Liaise where necessary with site management to ensure satisfactory progress and quality
  • Liaise with client/contractor on design issues
  • Take control of documents and drawings in accordance with company procedures
  • Design OHL routes in conjunction with the OHL Senior Design Designer
  • Site visits to operational substations
  • Analyse client briefs and agree deliverable requirements
  • Responsible for the quality and timely delivery of your work, for your own learning and professional development, and your impact on other people
  • Keep up to date with all legislation particularly health and safety and CDM
We are looking for an ambitious and dynamic individual with a passion for green energy.

  • BEng Degree or equivalent or MEng in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering
  • Ability to use your initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently
  • Excellent written communication and attention to detail and be able to demonstrate accurate technical drawings and good report writing
  • Good team player with a willingness to learn and develop
  • Be willing to spend time in other offices for specialist training
  • Ability to undertake site visits with compliance to relevant site safety rules and procedures
  • Strong IT skills, specifically word and excel
  • Be organised with an ability to multitask and keep schedules/documents/paperwork up to date and in order
