Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) is the nerve centre of the Royal Navy. It supports operations around the globe and provides the ships, people, aircraft and equipment to deliver the UK's defence policy. Civil Servants and Armed Forces personnel work together in a wealth of interesting and challenging jobs in different disciplines.


This is an exciting time to join a newly transformed
People & Training (P&T) Directorate as we rapidly develop our new structures and operating model The role will be integral to supporting Programmes & Projects that are delivering benefits to the Royal Navy that improve the lived experience and enhance our productivity.


The Directorate is currently undergoing a number of major change programmes which are focused on delivering the P&T Strategy to ensure the whole force can: Join Well, Train Well, Work Well, Live Well, and Leave Well.

To enable this, we are transforming how the organisation is structured to ensure it runs well and we are driving digital and technological advancement to improve our people analytics, workforce planning, and personal access to HR services to improve the lived experience of our people, presenting opportunities for them to thrive and unlock their potential as valued and respected individuals who operate to fight and win.


This role is situated in a fast paced organisation, set to deliver People & Training transformation across the
Royal Navy.


Working with projects and Programmes that are delivering transformational activity to our people, improving their lived experience and enhancing productivity.

This post is advertised at 37 hours per week


Job description:


We are looking for individuals who are self-starters and can deliver their objectives to a high standard, are passionate about project delivery and enjoy a fast-paced working environment.

A good team-working ethos is also key.

  • Establish and manage programme data on Microsoft Project Online, the Navy Command online Portfolio management tool.
  • Deliver a consistent approach to drive both the effectiveness and improvements on delivery outputs. Raising the overall standards, including sharing standard methodology.
  • Provide Project Managers with situational awareness of current performance and any future issues that will prevent programme progress.
  • Supporting the Community of Interest events as an SME and provide advice/support for other project teams, championing the project delivery profession more broadly within Navy Command.
