Exciting New Opportunity for a Purchasing Manager looking to work within Sports & Events - challenging & varied permanent position

Group Purchasing Manager

Required to define and implement specific sourcing strategies for designated areas of expenditure. Optimising Supplier relationships, creating value by driving down cost, improving efficiency, eliminating risk throughout the supply chain and drivingstakeholder engagement

Key Responsibilities:


  • In collaboration with key stakeholders create and execute Purchasing Category strategies which demonstrate value to both business and chosen suppliers for long term mutual benefit.
  • Negotiate contractual agreements with suppliers to ensure service, quality, added value, total cost, security of supply are secured and risk mitigated
  • Manages the assessment, selection and development of strategic Suppliers
  • Assist with the development of new processes, procedures and solutions for the overall Purchasing function
  • Conduct Purchasing, Supplier and Market analysis and create Management reports as required
  • To proactively develop cost reduction plans utilizing, expenditure analysis, benchmarking activity and the creation of formal tenders
  • To build and maintain effective working relationships & provide guidance & insight into the preparation, creation and renewal of formal contracts and agreements
  • Provide practical advice, guidance and support to internal stakeholders to ensure that the interests of the business are protected, compliant with applicable laws and commercial best practice
  • To support our efforts in remaining compliant towards Corporate Governance
  • To comply at all times with Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices in accordance with current legislation and as detailed in the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.
  • To take personal responsibility for the sustainability of the company by minimising waste of company resources including gas and electricity, as well as protecting the environment as described in the company's Environment Management System
Skills & Experience

  • Excellent numerical skills
  • Full Driving License
  • CIPS Procurement and Supply qualifications
  • Educated to a degree level
  • Excellent negotiating and influencing skills, at all levels
  • An experienced purchasing professional with proven track record of delivering significant commercial value
  • Supplier and or Supply Chain Management
  • Excellent analytical skills inc Excel & Power Bi
  • Sound knowledge of procurement systems and tools
  • Good IT skills including word and Power Point
  • Proven track record in delivering commercial value
  • Proficient structured negotiator
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong collaborative communication skills
  • Ability to successfully conduct negotiations with suppliers and other such third parties
  • Proactive in prioritising and managing deadlines
