Description
Applications are invited for 2 x 3-month Junior Clinical Fellow posts in anaesthesia, working at Charing Cross Hospital. Two Junior Clinical Fellow posts are available from May 2023. Start dates before and after this time will also be considered.

The post is ideally suited to either an anaesthetist who has completed their Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC) and Stage 1 or equivalent training, and is looking to further their anaesthetic experience and undertake the primary FRCA prior to securing a specialist or higher training post.

  • The clinical duties would cover the Stage 2 curriculum of the Royal College of Anaesthesia (RCOA). There will also be opportunities to undertake activities that enhance their nonclinical skills such as education, research, and quality improvement and publication preparation.
  • As a Junior Clinical Fellow in anaesthesia, the postholder will take part in a 1:8 junior registrar oncall rota alongside other trainees. Majority of the post holder's clinical time will be spent on a variety of surgical lists. The surgical specialties covered at Charing Cross hospital are Neurosurgery (including interventional neuroradiology), Head and Neck (including robotic assisted surgery), General oncology, Urology (including robotic assisted surgery), ENT, Plastics, Colorectal (including HIPEC), Orthopaedics and Ophthalmology. This will enable enough clinical time to cover the Stage 2 requirements.
