Job summary:
The Office for Veterans' Affairs (OVA) has an exciting new role in our expanding Comms team to lead on social media strategy and content production.
Working closely with the OVA and the Cabinet Office communications team, your work will challenge public perceptions of veterans, signpost support for veterans, and promote the work of the OVA.
You will spearhead the team's social media strategy and will be confident in adapting digital approaches to evolving trends and insights.
You will be responsible for managing our social media channels and schedules, producing and publishing engaging and innovative social media content.

Job description:
- Key responsibilities:
- Lead on refreshing and implementing the OVA's social media strategy, including the effective use of analytics, content and channels.
- Capture creative video and photography from ministerial visits and OVA and veteran events, and edit to create engaging social media content.
- Create and publish impactful digital assets including graphics and basic animations.
- Identify communications opportunities and manage the content schedule for our external social media channels.
- Advise Comms colleagues and the ministerial team on digital approaches for press announcements, ministerial visits and ongoing communications.
- Ensure work is delivered on time and that budget is used well to maximise impact.
- Use social media insight tools to track performance and regularly report on impact, making recommendations to improve future approach.
- Use analytics, to ensure we fully understand our social media audiences.
Person specification:
- Essential Criteria:
- You are digitally savvy, and have a strong interest and awareness of social media trends and innovations and how they can be applied to content.
- You have extensive experience capturing video and photography at varied locations.
- You are well versed in video and photography editing with Adobe Creative Suite, and have knowledge of graphic design and/or animation approaches.
- You have planned, managed and produced a schedule of engaging low/nocost digital content that is audiencefocused, channelspecific and grounded in insight.
- You can spot good content opportunities both ahead of time and on the ground, and take the lead in implementing them.
- You know how to track and evaluate the impact of digital communications, reporting regularly on progress, and using insights to adapt future strategies.
- You are organised with the capability to manage emerging and conflicting demands in a changing environment, and to troubleshoot technical issues.
- You are confident and adaptable in working frequently with ministers or senior stakeholders in varied locations.
- You have excellent communication skills when presenting your content concepts and giving creative direction.
- You can present your recommendations persuasively and incorporate feedback, but also know when to push back and challenge views.
- You work well under pressure and thrive as part of a team, helping to deliver shared goals.
- You understand the part social media plays in broader communications, improving access to services and telling positive stories in the veteran community.

- You have worked with vulnerable groups, or are able to adapt ways of working when needed
Additional information:
A minimum 60% of your working time should be spent at your principal workplace. Although requirements to attend other locations for official business will also count towards this level of attendance.
