Location:
Corsham / Hybrid (Full time with 2-3 days p/w onsite)


Contract:
Fixed Term Contract Jan 2024- Mar 2024 (possible extension / perm)


Salary:
£45k - £50k p/a FTE


Overview of Role


Thorn SDS are a niche consultancy company based in Alton, Hampshire, who are committed to enabling technology organisations and professionals to thrive within the Space, Defence and Security sectors.


We currently require a
Technical Author to facilitate the provision of a Single Local Area Distribution solution for all CIS services within a Command Post/HQ, providing distribution of services and encryption of user traffic to orphaned, or separate capabilities that are not captured within the current scope,on behalf of our Central Government client, based in Corsham, Wiltshire.

This will initially be a Fixed Term Contract from Jan 2024 to Mar 2024. There is the possibility of the contract being extended to Sept 2025, or becoming permanent.


As the
Technical Author you would also ensure a telephone capability which provisions a multi-tenancy, cross security domain connectivity from deployed to deployed and deployed to fixed environments, both hard and soft.


The role will be based in Corsham (with flexible working arrangements to be agreed once work is underway), with travel anticipated to stakeholder sites.


Responsibilities

  • Technical Author service supporting Incident Response
  • Authoring ITIL v4.0 service management playbook artefacts/deliverables
  • Weekly reports, summarising key tasked activities and outputs generated.
  • Project documentation (PIDs, schedule, design documents etc) as mandated by the governance framework.

Skills & Requirements

  • An understanding of communications information systems (CIS) services management (SM) processes to update/improve or produce relevant SM playbooks.
  • An understanding of CIS incident response (IR) processes to update/improve or produce relevant IR playbooks
  • An understanding of CIS business continuity approaches to update/improve or produce relevant playbooks
  • Ability to advise improved ways of working pertaining to the current processes and procedures employed by the Service Management Team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on delivering highquality solutions.
  • Previous experience within a network/security operations centre.

Security Clearance.
