Job summary:


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced dietitian to lead the Tier 3 and 4 Specialist Weight management teams with a particular focus on Tier 3 Weight management.

You will be working with a multi-disciplinary team of dietitians, psychologists, endocrinologists and bariatric surgical teams supported by the UHB Therapies Directorate.


The post will work closely with another Band 7 Specialist Weight management dietitian, Therapy Lead and Consultant Clinical Leads for the Specialist Tier 3 Weight Management.

The post is integral in supporting the Therapy Lead in leading operational delivery of the Tier 3 Specialist Weight management service with emphasis on optimising pathway delivery to promote service effectiveness.

There will be opportunities to make an active contribution to service development and redesign both at a trust level and a wider Birmingham and Solihull system level.


The post holder will deliver dietetic expertise to a mixed patient caseload as well as promote education and development of future specialist weight management dietitians.

Post registration experience in an acute NHS hospital setting is required providing a broad range of dietetic clinical experience.

Main duties, tasks & skills required:
Main duties


Clinical work is predominantly in the out-patient setting, working with individuals and groups with complex needs both remotely and in person.

You will provide peer support and supervision to dietitians in the team to enhance skill development.

Enthusiasm for quality improvement, teaching and coaching and development of the service is essential.


The team works both remotely and in person on the Heartlands site as well as providing some patient service delivery in local community venues.

The post holder will be required to work flexibly with a requirement in a team leader role to spend a proportion of time on site in person to be agreed with the post's line management team The service base is located at Heartlands hospital.


Therapies at Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull hospitals as part of UHB is committed to providing a 7 day therapy service with participation in bank holiday cover for dietetics.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly across sites and support evening, weekend and bank holiday working if it is required

Person specification:
Qualifications:


Essential:

Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.

A levels or equivalent qualification

Degree in dietetics or equivalent.

Current Registration with HCPC.


Desirable:

Training in management/leadership.

Training in specialist area.

Evidence of further postgraduate study in specialist area.


Experience:


Essential:

Demonstration of clinical experience enabling

post holder to manage a complex caseload of patients

Demonstration of significant experience in managing /leading others

Experience of training other staff / student

dietitians.

Previous experience of conducting audits and/or research

Good clinical knowledge of specialist area of team to manage.

Understanding of audit, clinical effectiveness and its importance in the provision of a quality service.

Awareness of local needs, eg; ethnic minority
