Job description

Language and Communication Practitioner
Are you interested in children's development and communication? Have you supported children with global delay and autism to achieve new skills?

If so, you could be part of the Step Up Speech and Language therapy service and support our mission to help local children communicate successfully and engage with learning

We are now recruiting for a Language and Communication Practitioner who will specialise in supporting preschool children with autism.

You will deliver evidence-based approaches to improve the life outcomes of children, extend their early communication skills and develop their skills towards talking.

Step Up Speech and Language was established in 2019 and since then, has grown to be a well-known and highly recommended independent therapy service.

Due to the success of this service, there is now a need to expand and help more children and families in Plymouth through our new service Plymouth Autism Team.

Our therapy service takes pride in the strong links and relationships that we've formed by working directly with families, preschools and school settings.

It's our commitment to bring out the best in children and help them to achieve their potential.

You will work under the guidance of a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to improve the lives of children with speech, language and communication difficulties.

This is a highly rewarding role that requires enthusiasm to learn new and exciting skills, and motivate children to communicate successfully.

You will work closely with parents to offer guidance and support as they learn new key skills to help support their children.

You will be an enthusiastic and dynamic practitioner, to deliver speech and language therapy services in accordance with the Code of Practice of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

Location - Plymouth and it's surrounding areas. You must have use of your own vehicle.

Hours - Flexible (initially 2 days per week, moving to 4-5 days per week with experience). You can organise your own workload to times that work best for you.

Fee - £30 per session. You will provide between 4 to 5 -x 45 minute sessions per day. So daily earnings will be from £120 to £150.

Each month you will receive regular supervision sessions to reflect on your clinical skills and develop your knowledge within this specialised role.

You will be paid an additional £30 to attend monthly supervision meetings.

Contract - consultancy contract. Providing monthly invoices for the services you have offered.

Benefits - Travel costs of £0.45 per mile.
