Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community? We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as an Enforcement Officer.
In this role, you will play a crucial part in fulfilling the Council's statutory duties by enforcing relevant legislation to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in the Newry, Mourne and Down District Council area.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking high-visibility patrols, enforcing legislation, gathering evidence, and collaborating with various agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
Your Duties:
- Conduct highvisibility foot patrols to deter and detect antisocial behaviour, including joint patrols with PSNI/DDC.
- Enforce relevant legislation such as the Litter (NI) Order, Pollution Control and Local Government (NI) Order, Street Trading Act (NI), and Council By-Laws.
- Gather evidence, produce witness statements, and attend court as necessary for enforcement activities.
- Assist other statutory bodies in recording and reporting incident data on criminal and nuisance activities affecting public health and safety.
- Address complaints of alleged antisocial behaviour and make appropriate referrals to relevant agencies.
- Respond to enquiries from the public and maintain accurate records and statistical reports.
- Collaborate with relevant agencies and community groups to address antisocial behaviour and report back as necessary.
- Develop and deliver educational programs, publicity materials, and special projects to address community issues.
- Work with the local community to address antisocial behaviour and provide guidance and information as needed.
- Support an interagency problemsolving approach by liaising with relevant bodies and stakeholders.
Your Profile:
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs (A-C) including English Language and Maths (or equivalent qualification).
- At least one year of experience in the enforcement of legislation.
- Previous experience in lone working is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out investigations and preparing reports for management.
Your Benefits:
