Due to sustained growth and the evolution of business requirements of our customer base, Leonardo UK are looking to recruit an additional Test Source Controller, to join our radiation safety team working on our Cyclamen Project.


The function is part of the wider Integrated Project Team, responsible and accountable for preparation, maintenance, administration, coordination, and radiation monitoring of all radiological test sources and equipment procured, used, stored, transported, and disposed of by the contract.

_ What you'll do as a

Test Source Controller:
_


The post holder also helps with the maintenance of radiation safety procedures and documentation with the Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS) and the Radiological Protection Adviser (RPA).


You will help maintain statutory and non-statutory records, perform internal audits to ensure compliance with regulations and operational requirements associated with the use, storage, and transport of radioactive sources and associated equipment.

This includes the administration of bespoke databases and excel tools for managing; radioactive sources, personal dosimetry devices, radiation-monitoring equipment, transport packages.


Being a member of a wider technical team, the appointee also supports other technical or logístical activities as required by the business and as appropriate to skill set.


  • Preparation, control, measurement and management of low activity sealed radioactive sources used for testing and maintenance of detection equipment.
  • Issue radioactive sources to 'authorised members of staff for the purpose of testing and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that all radioactive sources and transport packages issued are maintained to the relevant specifications.
  • Maintain the radiological source database in relation to source movements from the main Site and in the field.
  • Help maintain the Radiation Safety Manual (RSM) for work with ionising radiations.
  • Maintain and monitor relevant areas including: the Source Preparation Area and Source Stores
  • Control stock inventories and maintain accurate auditable records.
  • Coordinate and manage personal Dosimeters and maintain associated records for all appropriate staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and associated documentation to meet ongoing project demands and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform radiation monitoring as required, including: source leak testing & radiological surveys.
  • Provide support and assistance in the management of contingencies on site and remotely.
  • Provide support and assistance to the Radiation Protection Advisor (RPA) in any activities associated within the radiation safety team.
  • Coordination of the controlled procurement and disposal of radioactive sources.
  • Support the wider Service Delivery Team(s) by assisting in technical / test / logistics and stores related activities as necessary.

_ What we need from you:_

  • Radiation safety training will be provided, no prior knowledge or experience required.
  • Light DYI technical skills for workshop, able to operate power drills and manual tools.
  • Able to demonstrate a range of administrative and organisation skills.
  • Be a good communicator, in both written and verbal forms.
  • A good team player able to work on own initiative.
  • Have a flexible approach to work requirements and demanding situations.
Other

  • Be able to be Security Cleared to SC level.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Flexible to travel throughout the UK.
