A fantastic career opportunity awaits you here in Medlock Chemotherapy Unit at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.

Within this fast-paced environment care is delivered to both Haematology and Oncology patients as part of a wider inter-disciplinary team.


We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced nurse with a background in cancer care ideally with knowledge and skills in Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT).


The post will be based at the RUH but will be working on a rota basis within our community setting with significant involvement in the development of this new outreach service.


As a band 6, you will be a clinical expert ensuring treatment is delivered in a highly professional, safe and holistic manner, whilst also supporting staff in their training and development.

You will need to be highly motivated and able to demonstrate excellent clinical and interpersonal skills.


There will be the opportunity to further both your clinical and managerial skills and knowledge and this will be tailored to your specific educational requirements, be that formal or informal.

To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines within the following spheres

  • Administration of Systemic Anticancer Therapy and/ or supportive therapies
  • The assessment of care and health education needs
  • Education of patients and their relatives regarding SACT
To co-ordinate the unit and/or act as a deputy to the person holding continuing responsibility.


  • To rotate between the RUH and the community setting as required.
  • To develop leadership skills and experience in the management of the unit/department.
  • To participate and support in clinical teaching programmes as appropriate, and to teach and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to nursing or non-nursing staff.
  • To promote and maintain effective communication.
  • To support the verification and authorisation of chemotherapy regimens on ARIA e-prescribing system prior to usage.


Perform all procedures in accordance with RUH Trust policies / procedures and National Standards for Cancer patients in relation to Chemotherapy / Day Care Services.
