The job is based within the Ophthalmology Admin Department at Burnley General Hospital.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and hard-working individual to join a team of Band 4 Medical Secretaries to support them within their roles.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Officer/Audio Typist to join a very busy Ophthalmology Department to support the medical secretaries with their clinic typing etc

The main responsibilities of this role are to support the medical secretaries with their clinic typing. You will also be responsible for delivering and collecting case notes to and from Medical Records and Clinics.

You will also be required to track in casenotes waiting to be typed and distribute casenotes to Medical Secretaries as necessary.

Person Specification


Qualifications:


Essential criteria:

GCSE English Grade C or above

Keyboard skills


Desirable criteria:

RSA/OCR 2 Typing or RSA/OCR work processing

RSA/OCR Audio typewriting/proven ability of equivalent level of skill


Experience:

Essential criteria

Clerical experience normally six months


Desirable criteria:

Knowledge of medical terminology

Audio typing experience


Personal qualities:


Essential criteria:

Proven excellent communication skills

Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

Ability to work to deadlines

Proven ability to keep information confidential

Ability to provide reasonable flexibility in working hours
