Job Description Summary:

Accountable to deliver the offer and costing for valves product with specific focus on competitivity and technical acceptability, in line with the bidding strategy.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide cost estimates for the valve product (HVDC and FACTS)
  • Monitor and review costing data to detect and assess problems and make recommendations to resolve issues
  • Ensure strong coordination between all roles involved for timely preparation of good quality technical valve offer and costing.
  • Monitor Costs and assessed against baseline reference solution target cost.
  • Properly benchmark and challenge any cost which does not compare with target cost to avoid both over and under estimation.
  • Monitor and report valve cost progress throughout the tender process.
  • Provide reports on actual costs versus the reference costs and identify underlying reasons for any variance and proposed resolutions.
  • Manage / maintain the valve costing tool and all associated inputs and outputs.
  • Close alignment with Engineering on the valve design and associated Solidity
  • Agree manufacturing schedule and ensure that the product can be delivered in line with project schedule.
  • Align with the manufacturing teams to ensure availability of manufacturing capacity in line with the project need.
  • Monitor manufacturing costs against reference solution standard cost.
  • Own the costing process.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice, cost estimating vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance in valve costing.
  • Ensure a robust cost estimating process in place to meet production/project requirements and in line with quality standards.
  • Ensure consistent cost management processes are applied in the business, working closely with Engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, NPI, Solution Owner and procurement.
  • Ensure that the project if awarded will be executable without time nor cost slippage.
  • Work closely with Engineering to support continuous improvement through cost engineering techniques and processes, identifying inefficiencies and cost optimisation opportunities.
  • Establish the sourcing strategy in collaboration with technical and commercial teams.
  • Coordinate with PDG Sourcing to ensure purchasing terms and conditions as well as contract conditions are applied and suppliers prequalified.
  • Review total cost of ownership, firming provisions and assumptions and supplier selection.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Degree in Electronics / Electrical / Automation engineering or related field.
  • Excellent experience in project management: planning, tracking, reporting.
  • In depth knowledge about Engineering Tools & Processes
  • Good knowledge of Control design, communication protocols and networks, IEDs (Intelligent Electronics Devices), preferably in substation/power plant environment.

  • Captures return of experience in execution and feedback into tendering activities
