    Job summary

    CathaysSurgery isseeking an experienced HCA to join our vibrant, patient focused and innovativepractice who are committed to the delivery of high-quality, person-centredcare.   • We have 5experienced doctors supported by an excellent clinical and administrative team.
  • We are anexperienced practice committed to the teaching and training of medical studentsfrom Cardiff University.
  • We use Visionclinical system (migrating to EMIS)
  • We are part ofthe South Easter Cluster [Collaborative] comprising of 8 practices. The surgeryis located close to the city centre in the Cathaysareawith a mixed demographic and easily accessible with public transport.

    • We hold regular informal clinical team meetingsin addition to an open-door policy for mentoring and advice.

    Main duties of the job

    Clinicalduties (dependent on training/experience)

    Phlebotomy

    BPchecks

    ECG

    B12injections

    Flu/pneumococcal/shinglesimmunisation

    Repeatdressing of wounds after assessment by a qualified nurse

  • Sutureremoval
  • INRchecks
  • Learningdisability checks
  • GPLifestyle advice and smoking cessation advice
  • Chronicdisease management: - Carry out diabetic checks pre nurse review.

    • Althoughthis lists the main clinical duties, there may be additional tasks requested

    Administrativeduties

  • stock check and ordering
  • cleaning, checking and calibration of equipment
  • Re stocking clinical rooms
  • General housekeeping (tidying storerooms and clinical rooms)
  • Takingon specific roles as discussed with the team, flu champion.

  • Generalhousekeeping (tidying storerooms and clinical rooms, disposing of out-of datestock and reporting to the appropriate person, putting stock and equipmentaway)
  • Takingon specific roles as discussed with the team, flu champion.
