About the Role

  • Estimating all main projects and contracts and agreeing all aspects of cost to sales (projected profit
  • EPP sheet) with MD prior to issuing to contracts managers. Closely monitoring costs and managers' commercial performance throughout every contract programme.
  • Critical procedure 1) identify and maximise profit with MD on EPP sheet via competitive postestimate pricing for all sections 2) set target profit margins with contract managers 3) monitor costs for contract life cycle 4) promote variations and set procedures for managers to detail for costing 5) submit valuations and final accounts.
  • Work closely with MD to develop and manage the company electrical estimating and be able to achieve and develop successful commercial procedures, profit, and performance via production of EPP cost reports, Valuation Meetings and Quartile profit figures.
  • Achieve quartile predetermined profit levels for the electrical department.
  • Maximising profit on all projects and develop best profit options for managers.
  • Develop existing subcontractor supply chain for profitability, performance, compliancy with QA and form of contract.
  • Carefully review successful tenders to ensure financially accurate, contract qualifications have been covered/ qualified out and assess any design risk for discussion. Investigate all nominated subcontractor and capital plant costs with purchase manager and MD.
  • Ensure subcontractors have backtoback contract and receive full contractual package, including contract, drawings, program, subcontract agreement, ensuring they produce all necessary H&S documentation prior to starting. NB company procedures will need reviewing.
  • Attend regular valuation meetings with Directors to review EPP, monthly submission and variations. (to be explained as part of induction).
  • Hold regular commercial reviews to determine managers' performance with MD/Directors.
  • Have the ability and leadership skills to advise managers and engineers to increase profit levels.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize estimation Trimble software to produce detailed estimates.
  • Work with mechanical estimating to continue to deliver high quality M&E estimates.
  • All estimate costs i.e., labour, sub
- contractors, materials, specialist suppliers, plant and prelims to be fully discussed and agreed with Managing Director during the tender process and at final review before submission of tender.

  • Complete and submit tender package to client.
  • Check client feedback from tenders, ongoing and completed.
  • Continued development of the electrical division to achieve predetermined levels of profit via project cost analysis and value engineering before project commencement and ongoing high level of quality recognised by clients and the industry.
  • To negotiate contracts and projects with existing and new clients.
  • Estimate and commercially oversee projects from inception to final account.
  • Achieve predetermined levels of profit and turnover, to be agreed prior to start of project and placement of purchase order.
  • Carry out value engineering to maximise profit prior to commencement of project.
  • To set up projects, prepare subcontract and material costs for Purchase Department.
  • All new sub
- contractors to be agreed by Managing Director prior to using in estimates. Ensure all Sub -contractor legal and vetting documentation is up to date and copy on to sub
- contractor data base.

  • Organisation of program and cash flow to ensure program is met.
  • To commercially work with Managing Director to determine all costs, profit, and cash flow for all estimates.
  • Diplomatic and helpful attitude to all manner of challenges and problem solving, working as a team player in open communication with Managers and Directors.
  • Develop work / contacts / clients.
  • Advise Managing Director of multiple value engineering opportunities, for each project, on a regular basis.
  • Attend pretender interviews and associated contract meetings.
  • Preempt design problems and prepare technical submissions for all aspects of project and obtain signoff prior to commencement of work.
  • To work with office managers to develop expressions of interest and prequalification.
  • Adhere to company and employment policy.
  • Achieve maximum profit levels for the company.
  • A history of industry standard training, quality employment and proven record of completed contracts are essential.
  • High level electrical technical knowledge and experience in all areas of mechanical engineering and to be able to fully engage with managers and professional clients.
  • Generally, experienced with IT usage inclusive of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, MS project and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Estimating Software
