The priority work Natural England is delivering includes:
Establishing a Nature Recovery Network to help wildlife thrive

  • Monitoring environmental changes to identify and help reduce the effects of climate change

  • Providing ways for people to better connect with nature, including green social prescribing

Locations


National team roles can be linked with any Natural England office while Area Team roles will be linked with an office in the relevant geographic area.


The Team


The Strategy and Government Advice Team plays a vital role in the development, implementation and communication of Natural England's vision, mission, and goals.

We also advise the government on the development of environmental policy and the 25-year Environment Plan.

The team is currently growing in capacity to help Defra design and plan for the implementation of mandatory net gain in 2023.

This role will move from programme delivery into National Operations mid


The Environment Act will make Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) mandatory, for the majority of developments in the English planning system.

It will require planning applicants to deliver 10% BNG, as measured by the Biodiversity Metric, on their own development site or at an offsite location, in order to receive planning permission from the Local Planning Authority (LPA).


This vacancy is an exciting opportunity to be involved in helping to deliver the government's flagship policy on Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and is at the heart of the Biodiversity Gain Digital Service programme, one of the most significant change programmes for Natural England.

You will play a significant part in the delivery of the Programme's communication and engagement agenda. As an enthusiastic, self-motivated team player with excellent lateral thinking and a proactive outlook, you'll need to use initiative and motivation to help set the direction and successfull
