with statutory health and safety standards, including Food

Safety Compliance

  • To ensure the development of a professional and proactive
service by actively promoting health and safety awareness

and accountability


Work Pattern
37 hours, 5 days per week, 52 weeks


Key Responsibilities:


Health and Safety

  • Be the College's designated lead for Health & Safety Management, including
compliance with legislation.

  • Use a Health and Safety Planner Audit tool to identify, plan, action, monitor
and review actions on a regular basis.

  • Assist in the development of priorities, including action planning and
programmes, with an aim of achieving realistically high health and safety

standards

  • Assist managers to assess and achieve competency in health and safety, as
defined in the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Policy

  • Review and develop the staff induction process and associated
documentation, in relation to Health and Safety, undertaking briefings to new

staff

  • Lead an active monitoring role, including walk round inspections and
governors inspections and reports, recording and taking action as appropriate

  • Review and develop monitoring arrangements (as per the Health and Safety
Policy) to include reporting of hazards and near misses, incident and accident

and first aid reporting. Monitor reports, analyse and report on trends or issues

causing concern, using Estates software as appropriate.

  • Lead the staff Health and Safety Forum, reporting on actions identified
through Health & Safety and Facilities Management audits.


Risk Management

  • Manage the updating of risk assessments with relevant
departments/responsible persons and provide advice and support as

necessary. Monitor the implementation of identified risk control measures,

addressing issues arising. Provide risk assessment methodology training and

support.

  • Develop, review and maintain a central record of risk assessments, updating
in conjunction with relevant departments

  • Oversee the updating, review and implementation of risk assessments
relating to site and facilities.

  • Develop a process for sharing all relevant risk assessments with staff as
necessary

  • Contribute to educational visits by assisting with monitoring trips and relevant
risk assessments.

Premises related Health and Safety

  • Review and develop contractor procurement and management systems
(including competency checks), adhering to CDM requirements as applicable

  • Coordinating Food Safety Compliance Audits and checks.

General

  • To develop standards/policies/procedures through the interpretation and
assimilation of statutory requirements and recognised good practice. To

support managers to ensure policies and procedures are effectively

  • To be the point of contact for accident/incident reporting
  • To provide advice and guidance to staff and college leaders on health and
safety matters

  • Ensure you are responsible for your own health and safety and that of others
within the College environment
