- *L6 (Degree) trained Nurse / ODP / Podiatrist
- *Current, unrestricted and active registration with the NMC or HCPC

- *Current or recent experience of working in a theatre environment
- *Ability to assess patient condition, interpret problems and determine appropriate timely course of action within clinical and theatre environment. liaising with surgeon to determine whether patient fit to proceed to surgery should there be a deterioration in peri-operative stage
- *Ability to assist surgeons and supervise Junior staff
- *Maintain written and computer based Records
- *Outpatients experience
- *Minor Orthopaedic surgery
- *Application and removal of plaster casts
- *Understanding of foot pathologies
- *Good time management skills
- *Delegation & highly organised
- *Ability to organise theatre and clinical sessions anticipating requirements such as the use of specialist equipments and loan sets
- *Excellent verbal and inter-personal skills with a wide range of people, including negotiation skills
- *Clinical assessment skills
- *Excellent written notes as per HCPC & NMC regulations.
- *Experience of post operative and follow up care, including wound care
- *Adhere to trust and departmental policies and procedures

- *Manual handling for patient lifting and moving on a daily basis. Including transfer of patient by wheelchair or crutches

Come and join our small dynamic team at Podiatric Surgery, Chelmsley Wood Primary Care Centre.
We work Monday to Friday, no weekends. We have free parking
We need a scrub nurse who is versatile and able to turn their hand to dressings and pre-operative assessments. In house training provided by our amazing team members.
Main duties of the job
Scrub Nurse - to scrub for podiatric surgery cases.
Monitoring of patients under local anaesthetic/sedation - inhouse training
Admission and discharge of patients under local anaesthetic and under sedation, monitoring of patients on the ward area prior to and after surgery.
Dressing clinics - assessment of wounds and appropriate dressing selection, casting and removal of k-wires (inhouse training provided)
Pre-operative assessments - full patient history, blood requests and to provide information to patients about the day of surgery.
Telephone clinics - new patient clinics and post operative telephone advice.
Ordering on IPROC system - inhouse training given
