VACANCY - Homeless Officer x2

Location:
Wolverhampton


Length:3 months with the chance of extension


Hours: 9am - 5pm and 10am - 6pm pattern37.5 hours


Pay:
£19 - £23 umbrella


Responsibilities of the role:

  • Prevent homelessness in the City by assisting customers to either retain their present accommodation or by the provision of alternative housing solutions
  • Ensure there is access to suitable housing for those in need, in line with the Homeless Strategy and Allocations Policy
  • Inform customers of the housing solutions available to them and assist with a range of housing matters
  • Take a proactive approach to preventing and reducing homelessness
  • Ensure fair and consistent treatment of all customers, regardless of circumstances or tenure
  • Work individually and in collaboration with others in the company and externally to facilitate resident/tenancy sustainment
  • Work with the Temporary Accommodation Placement Officers to ensure quick and efficient placement of households into temporary accommodation, ensuring that the placement is appropriate for the household, it makes best use of available stock and it meetsvalue for money requirements
  • Responsible for all households placed in temporary accommodation being referred to the Sustainment and Support Team for support
  • Responsible for the assessment of homelessness with customers in a range of settings
  • Produce a comprehensive personal housing plan to identify actions needed to resolve homeless situations and to regularly review and update this
  • Knowledge and understanding of Housing Benefits and Welfare Reform
  • Produce written correspondence including investigating and responding to Councillor and MP enquiries
  • Investigate, assess and advise customers on solutions open to them to retain existing accommodation or secure suitable settled accommodation with the aim of preventing homelessness

Essential experience/requirements:

  • Previous experience in a related role
  • A full UK drivers' license and access to a vehicle
  • Basic DBS
