Ok, so this isn't just a standard accounts role. But whilst you're here, have a little read

It's probably a 50/50 split between bookkeeping and payroll.

We've given it this job title, because we'd like someone to have a practice background. Sneaky, eh?

We aren't an accountancy practice, but there are definite comparisons. We invest in start-up recruitment businesses and provide lots of central functions across that group of businesses.


One of those functions is looking after their back-office: Bookkeeping / Management Accounts / Weekly Payrolls for Temporary Workers / Monthly Payrolls for Internal Teams.

We're only a small team (10 of us). That includes a finance team of 5 bloody lovely people, and we're looking for number 6.

It's a relaxed environment, with zero micro-management.

We employ very capable people and give them autonomy, ownership of their role, and the flexibility to work from home some days each week.

You'd have plenty of support from our Payroll and Finance Managers,and work closely with them and the wider team.


In an ideal world, here's what you might look like:

  • Marvellous at the accounts stuff
  • Awesome at the payroll stuff
  • Good with people
  • Plenty of Sage experience
  • Comfortable with technology

However

  • We get that you're likely to be stronger in one area. So, for example, if you have the accounts experience, and have only really touched on payroll (but are open to that becoming a bigger part of your job), please do still get in touch.
  • The 'good with people' bit is nonnegotiable though. You won't be on the phone a lot, but would need to be comfortable handling queries from partners, employees, temps, etc.


We'd ideally like someone full-time (Monday to Friday - fairly standard office hours, with flexibility around specific times), but could also consider someone part-time.

It's all about the right person, but we'd probably need at least 30 hours.
