We are currently seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join our team in the vibrant West End of Newcastle.

This temporary role offers a rewarding opportunity to work with learners who have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, assisting them in engaging positively within their lessons.


Position Overview:


As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners who display challenging behaviours, empowering them to participate effectively in their educational journey.

Your primary responsibility will be to facilitate engagement within lessons, utilising your background in working with disengaged and challenging individuals to provide tailored support and guidance.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Work closely with learners who have SEMH needs, providing individualised support to help them engage within their lessons.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to address challenging behaviours and promote positive alternatives.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and deliver tailored learning activities that meet the diverse needs of learners.
  • Build positive relationships with learners, fostering trust and rapport to facilitate communication and engagement.
  • Monitor learner progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and senior staff as required.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, ensuring the welfare and wellbeing of all learners.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience in responding to challenging situations and behaviours.

Requirements:


  • Previous experience working with disengaged and challenging individuals in a youth work, mentoring, or similar capacity.
  • Background in sports coaching, boxing, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with learners and colleagues.
  • Flexibility to work between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
  • Must possess a valid DBS check registered on the Update Service.

£100.00-£120.00 per day


Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends
