This is a pivotal role that we have created to lead on the Family Networks pillar in the Stable Homes Built on Love Strategy and the Families First for Children Pathfinder.

The two-year Pathfinder programme will build on the work we have already successfully undertaken in Dorset to create locality based multi-disciplinary services and support, ensuring that we are well placed to deliver ambitious outcomes for our children, young people and families.

As the Lead for Family Networks in Dorset you will ensure that families are at the heart of our decision making and that kinship care is a priority.

You will make sure that this is embedded throughout all our work to deliver the 'Stable Homes, Built on Love' strategy.

You will co-design and deliver the Family Network Strategy in collaboration with children, young people and families, our workforce, and local and national partners.

What you can expect to be doing:

Working across organisational boundaries and multiple programmes and projects you will be an enabler to ensuring the partnership's work impacts on improving the experiences of our diverse families, and improving the outcomes for the communities we serve.

You will have the professional maturity to provide challenge to ensure that the voice of families is present in decision making.

You will be expected to develop a culture of collaboration, building on our relationships with key stakeholders across the local authority and the partnership and improving the sharing of knowledge and best practice as we progress with co-design and implementation of our new model.

This might include, but is not limited to, learning lessons from the Ofsted local area inspections, developing joint working across education, health and social care, and improving the quality of the local area workforce.

The role will report directly to me as Corporate Director.

I am really excited about this new opportunity for us in Dorset and committing my time and energy to work with you, support you and learn from you.

About you:

  • Developing and sharing innovative practice around key issues, developments and peer analysis, to ensure Dorset is at the cutting edge of sector best practice.
  • Family Network decision making
  • Embedding our commitment to put our families at the heart of decision making in all parts of children's service (including practice and strategic development)
  • Support the development of national policy
In addition to the job description, you will be able to demonstrate your experience in:
