Job summary:


The FNP knowledge Management Lead is responsible for overseeing all knowledge related activities including the management, capturing, sharing and accessibility of knowledge assets.

Working alongside stakeholders to promote and optimise the use of the team's knowledge assets you will be expected to keep the team accountable for compliance with the organisation's knowledge management expectations and strategy.

You will be responsible for promoting collaboration across the team and working with our communications team to share relevant findings with internal and external stakeholders.

This is a key leadership role within the team and effective communication skills are essential.

You must be able to problem solve, coach your team and other colleagues and work effectively as part of a large and diverse team.

You must be a self starter who is committed to promoting a culture of knowledge sharing that is enabled through guidance and learning.

As knowledge manager you will be well-equipped with the knowledge base features, functionality and be able to communicate this to teams effectively.

As a manager in a fast-paced and knowledge driven environment, you will have to be able to identify concepts and ideas and come up with solutions quickly.


Job description:


Key Deliverables/Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing through defining, supporting and encouraging the use of knowledge to employees of all skill levels and roles
  • Ensure knowledge technologies are uptodate and working according to function, as well as ensure employees are using technology properly.
  • Controlling the accessibility and flow of knowledge within the team and to external partners
  • Define, agree and implement a knowledge management strategy for the team's portfolio to capture new knowledge through the use of a knowledge base system
  • Monitor progress by leveraging analytics to assess the impact, engagement, functionality and effectiveness of the knowledge management strategy.
  • Ensure the FNP team's successful transition to Microsoft 365 from a Google workspace environment, as part of the wider transition from DCMS to DSIT
  • Provide relevant coaching, training and support to champion a knowledge management culture.
  • Complete reporting on a quarterly basis highlighting key findings to governance groups
  • Escalation of findings as appropriate to senior leadership and governance groups
  • Line management of a Band B Knowledge Management Officer.

Person specification:


Essential requirements:


  • Relevant qualification in knowledge management (e.g. Chartered Information Professional with CILIP) or equivalent experience working in a knowledge management role
  • Experience organising file and folder systems and/or knowledge bases to enable swift finding of information
  • Strong IT skills including using Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel to manage and present data
  • Collaborating with and influencing people, within and outside your organisation, to progress work.
  • Confident writing skills, able to summarise project specific findings in general lessons
  • Experience of capturing and actioning lessons learned
  • Evidence of strong analytical skills and managing large data sets
  • Experience of working in a policy area, or closely with policy teams
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations such as GDPR
