We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the Trent Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (RFCC) Team as a Lead Local Flood Authority Advisor.


In this role you will:

  • Work closely with our partner organisations to deliver schemes that help to reduce flood risk and enhance the environment across the Trent Catchment.
  • Gather and interpret data from a range of sources to review / report on project performance.
  • Input to Regional Flood and Coastal Committee / Finance Sub Committee Meetings as required.
  • Support Risk Management Authorities in the writing and approval of business cases.
  • Assist Risk Management Authorities in building a robust pipeline of future projects.
  • Find opportunities for joint working / collaboration.
  • Identify training needs, build knowledge and share information.
  • Guide Risk Management Authorities through Environment Agency process requirements and streamline them where possible.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

As such, you will also be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident.

This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.


  • The team
  • The Trent RFCC Local Levy team is funded by the Committee to support Lead Local Flood Authorities, Internal Drainage Boards, Highways Authorities and Water Companies with the delivery of the government's FCRM 6year capital programme. Working flexibly, the team provide a variety of services depending on the specific needs of each LLFA ensuring that the levy raised is invested wisely and achieves the maximum outcomes possible.
  • Experience/skills required A background in flood risk management and an understanding of the role and responsibilities of the RFCC.
  • Previous involvement in project / programme management.
  • Experience of writing project proposals and business cases.
  • Knowledge of the DEFRA Partnership Funding principles and processes.
  • An ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Excellent communication skills and an outstanding level of customer service.
  • An ability to deliver high quality work to tight deadlines.

  • This post can be based in any office throughout the West and East Midlands. Regular travel across the whole of the Trent catchment may be necessary on occasion. Therefore, a valid UK driving licence is desirable.
