Commercial Finance Manager - Retail

Location:
Wandsworth/Remote


Salary:
c£75,000 plus bonus and a wide range of other benefits

This is a retail organisation within premium womenswear who are well established yet still growing a very fact rate.
They are entrepreneurial in their spirit and passionate about exceeding their customers' expectations in everything they do. An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial Finance team within one of their premium brands

Responsibilities:


This role will include:

Business Partnering:


  • Review and report to senior team on analysis of monthly cost reports for all head office departments.
  • Build relationships with internal peer group to understand and forecast overhead costs.
  • Hold monthly budget review meetings with each department and set action plans.
  • Attend and present financial information to store managers at area meetings.
  • Support the property team with the preparation of new store proposals, rent review negotiations and any other Capex spend
  • Prepare any new business plans and proposals including making recommendations to the senior team.
  • Deliver insightful analysis to support and challenge commercial and operational decision making
  • Develop and implement the business strategic roadmap

Trade reporting:


  • Oversee and review weekly trade analysis for all business channels around Sales, Margin and Stock.
  • Detailed variance analysis and investigation
  • Adhoc promotional sales analysis and reforecasting

Monthly reporting:


  • Month End P&L and Balance Sheet review.
  • Support the core finance team with monthly analysis to budget across all P&L lines
  • Attend monthly P&L and balance sheet review and take ownership of commercial finance / brand actions
  • Review and deliver monthly analysis of all business channels with commentary.
  • Store/Channel P&Ls
  • KPI Reporting
  • Territory/Geography
  • Preparation and review of the monthly Board pack

Budgeting and Forecasting:


  • Take ownership of and prepare (with assistance from the commercial finance analyst) the annual budget, quarterly forecasts and annual 5 year plan
  • Monthly balance sheet and cashflow forecasting

Other:


  • Key point of contact for the wider group with regards to monthly reporting and day to day queries
  • Management of one direct report
  • Adhoc reporting and analysis requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Qualified Accountant
  • CIMA/ACCA/ACA/CA
  • Experience operating in a multisite environment
  • Previous retail experience beneficial, but not essential
  • Strong commercial finance and business partnering experience
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • Process and system understanding
  • Business Appraisal and Analysis
  • Management Accounts
  • Advanced Excel

System Skills:


  • Advanced Excel
  • Experience of working with accounting systems (e.g. SUN/Mercatus) beneficial, but not essential
