Hours of work:40 hours per week - Monday-Thursday / Friday
Salary:
£12.50 per hour

Job Overview
The purpose is to develop, maintain and advance the skills, knowledge and work standards within the business and its people, focused on safe, quality assured and repeatable work.
The Master is required to support the effective running of the department, deliver high quality work through the team's training, development and coaching and through their own work.
They will support supervisory management in continual improvement and problem solving and in the attainment of targets within the area, conducting direct as well as indirect activities.
The role allows highly talented operators to take a step towards a leadership role, or to progress towards the technical side of the business, through its enhanced quality and engineering responsibilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities Required
- Modelling safe working practices:
- Using and maintaining appropriate PPE.
- Understanding hazards and risks.
- Working according to company health and safety procedures, and supporting improvement initiatives such as Who Cares Wins.
- Understanding and meeting the Quality requirements and reporting on problems which prevent their attainment, supporting problem solving and improvement.
- Understanding and supporting measurement of processes and problem solving within the organisation.
- Consistently operating equipment and conducting tasks in the area to the highest standards expected, fulfilling safety, quality and productivity requirements.
- Coaching, training and overseeing operators in the activities required to ensure that they always run to the standards.
- Supporting the organisation's ability to work to standards.
- Managing tools in the area to ensure that they safe and effective.
- Assisting in operator maintenance, equipment and area cleanliness and in resolving equipment breakdowns.
- Working and communicating across teams to achieve the necessary understandings.
- Encouraging, collecting and implementing improvement ideas to reduce waste and make jobs easier.
- Supporting relocation of plant, equipment and processes throughout the wider business, with preparatory work such as production of standards and training.
- Training, Experience and Knowledge required:
oUnderstand product drawings and be able to use them to assess correctness of work.
oUnderstand and be able to use continuous improvement tools.
oModel good and effective approach to team-working.
oTrained in mechanical and manual movement of materials (e.g. crane operation and barrow usage).
oHave a sound understanding and working knowledge of all equipment and methods in the area.
- Supporting the Operational Excellence change programme.
- Carrying out other activities as required.
