Software Tester, SDET, Java

Oxford - UK remote / hybrid

c£50-60k+ negotiable

Our client is a hugely successful AI tech scale-up enjoying triple digit growth twinned with around $40m funding across 3 rounds.

The company is backed by Oxford University, their customers (amongst them Goldman Sachs, AWS, JP Morgan), and leading venturecapital funds.

This key position will find you shaping the SDET pathway in a dedicated Java AI team, providing key SDET expertise for the team.

You will be expected to readily empathise with customers using environments such as the Spring Framework as well as understandingthe internals of how these systems are put together.

You will also have a passion for testing and best-practice software delivery.

Responsibilities:

Design and build complex Core Java JUnit tests in an Agile environment, using industry QA best practices
Manually test those parts of our product that do not yet have test automation and rapidly evolve testing and infrastructure to cover them
Participate in code reviews, pullrequest development, pair programming and test development
Proactively contribute to the team's objectives of delivering incremental value every sprint and partner with other team members to deliver those objectives
Interact with business stakeholders, customers and management to understand and refine user stories and the product backlog
Have a passion for innovation and improvement whilst recognizing that customer outcomes are always king

Software Tester / Java SDET requirements:

Fluency in the Java language and runtime library
Fluency with JUnit, hamcrest and other Java testing frameworks
Good understanding of the Spring Framework and the core concepts of Spring testing
Knowledge of Git or other SCMs
Contributed to large private and/or opensource projects
Knowledge of testdriven development and a CI/CD setup
Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team proactively
Experience with one or more of Linux/Mac OS/Windows environments
Willingness to learn new skills and technologies and adapt to arising challenges

Desirable:

Knowledge of scripting languages like Python
