Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant Vacancy

Reporting to:
Estates Manager


Responsibilities of the Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant will:
Housekeeping;

  • Keep toilets clean throughout the day including replenish soap, towels, toilet paper etc;
  • Provide general cleaning during the day (including bodily fluids);
  • To ensure the school is litter free and that bins are emptied as needed;
  • Respond to room bookings requests to set up and arrange furniture and equipment to meet customer needs;
  • Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained within all buildings and to carry out the regular removal of unused materials. It is the responsibility of the Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant to highlight to the Estates Manager any areas where housekeeping is of a poor standard.
Traffic Management;

  • Be responsible for traffic management at the bottom of the drive for key drop off and pick up points daily.
Stores;

  • Orders are stored and/or delivered to customers removed from front hall immediately;
  • Confirmation of delivery is immediately passed to the Assistant Bursar;
  • Specific responsibility to monitor and manage hygiene orders;
  • Ensure adequate and safe storage of all hazardous materials so that health and safety requirements are met and product life maintained.
Maintenance;

  • Carry out weekly visual inspections of fire routes and fire doors to ensure they are unhindered. Problems must be reported to the Estates Manager and sufficient action taken to resolve the problem;
  • Assist the Estates Manager in ensuring that the buildings are maintained in line with all H&S guidelines and legislation;
  • Direct persons and contracts to places where they are required;
  • Ensure that all defects noticed are reported immediately to Helpdesk.
Lettings;

  • Assist in ensuring the premises are prepared for holiday lettings;
  • Monitor and organise cleaning during lettings.
Waste Management;

  • Ensure the school waste is sorted in recycling and general waste before collection by external contractor;
  • Review of general waste levels to minimise excess weight charges;
  • Act as main school contact for waste contractor.
Other;

  • Any other duties as directed by the Estates Manager, Bursar or Headteacher commensurate with the level of this appointment.

Terms & Conditions of Employment:


  • Working Hours: Term time 07:4516:45, Monday to Friday plus 9 inset days plus 20 days in the school holidays (to be agreed with Estates Manager);
  • Attendance 9 inset days;
  • Staff pension scheme;
  • Free breakfast and lunch available when the school's catering facilities are open;

Safeguarding
The safety and well-being of the children in School is paramount at all times.

The Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant is responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children for whom they are responsible, or with whom they come into contact.

The Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant will adhere to and ensure compliance with the School's Child Protection Policy at all times.

If the Housekeeping and Facilities Assistant becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the School, it is their responsibility to report any concerns to the school's Designated Senior Lead for Child Protection or the Headmaster.
