This is a high profile and critical senior operational role within the
London Water Senior Leadership Team responsible for the production, pumping and storage of a continuous supply of safe, clean water for London.
Day to Day accountabilities and responsibilities include:
- Have prime operational responsibility for
health and safety of staff, contractors and customers - Managing a large operational team, demonstrating clear and consistent
leadership, inspiring and developing the team to deliver an excellent water service for London - Working closely with and collaboratively with members of the London Water team and colleagues from across Thames Water, including within System Operations, Asset Management, Finance, Capital Delivery and Engineering.
- Taking significant responsibility for external relationships with regulators, stakeholders and customers.
- Managing operational risk and financial budgets for London water production
- Supporting the development of
capital and operational budgets, while focussing on sustainable efficiency plans - Support the London Water Director and be a lead on 'event' management
- Health, safety and wellbeing of Thames Water staff, customers and contractors with the company's 'Zero Compromise' policy and values
- Manage a large operational team, demonstrating clear and consistent leadership, inspiring and developing the team to deliver an excellent water service for London
- Support the development and embedding technical competency within Water Production
- Delivery of key messages through the team, TU Partnership meetings and external media
- Full accountability for water quality at all water production assets
- Full accountability for water sufficiency, effective risk management and the protection of resilience of supplies to customers
- Responsible for understanding and proactively managing all of London Water Production's operational risks, taking timely and appropriate operational and/or investment action
- Financial accountability for London Water Production's Operational and capital budget and joint responsibility for London Water
Skills and experience we are looking for:
- Ability to think and operate strategically, enabling you as an individual and through others, to manage a diverse and complex asset base safely and effectively
- Ability to operate across all levels of the business from operations through to executive level
- Authentic operational leadership style which brings teams together in a regulated and safe environment
- Commercially minded and have a proven track record of effective performance management with the ability to maximise operational performance at all levels
- Willingness to take calculated risks and be comfortable operating under pressure whilst protecting the team, customers, water quality and supply resilience
- Ability to work with ambiguity and operate across all levels of the business
- Ability to drive change, influence and win the hearts and minds of a team through periods of change and transformation
- A passion for collaborative problem solving, with excellent communication
It would be desirable if you also have:
- Media skills and experience
- Demonstrable experience in project management with evidenced experience in the management of outsourced and managed service providers
