Responsible to
The Examinations Office and the Bursar, who has overall responsibility for all support staff.
Responsible for
Invigilating external examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for General Qualifications' regulations and carry out associated administrative and clerical duties.
Main Duties
- Prepare examination rooms.
- Distribute seating cards, writing paper, equipment and examination papers as required.
- Complete a seating plan.
- Supervise the examination.
- Complete Attendance Registers.
- Collect and check completed scripts.
- Tidy desks and equipment at the end of the examination.
- Prepare for next examination session if required.
- Undertake occasional office administrative duties to include assistance with the dispatch of exam papers.

- Responsible, punctual, calm and approachable
- Well organised and ability to show organisational ability.
- Flexible, adaptable to change and able to respond appropriately to a wide variety of unexpected situations
- Interested in working in a school environment and as part of a team
- Have a reasonable degree of physical fitness in order to carry papers, etc, over a large site built on a hillside.
- Smart appearance
- Ability to work in a way that promotes safety and wellbeing of children and young people.
Place of work
King Edward's School, North Road, Bath, or at such other place as the School may from time to time direct.
Hours of work
Morning examinations take place between approximately 8am and 12.30pm and afternoon exams start at approximately 1pm and end by no later than 6pm at the latest.
Training
You will be required to attend annual Safeguarding and Exam Invigilator training and you will be paid at the above hourly rate for the time you undertake the sessions.
Sickness Absence & Pay
If you are unable to work or attend training sessions due ill-health or injury on a day you have agreed to work you are required to contact the Examinations Officer as soon as possible on the first day of absence.
You are not entitled to receive sick pay in the event of your inability to work through illness or injury unless you qualify for statutory sick pay.
For the purpose of the statutory sick pay scheme qualifying days are those days on which you would normally be required to work.
