The School of Engineering seeks to appoint a Research Associate in Signal Processing for Sensing and Communications.

This Research Associate position will contribute to the Industry funded project within the Institute for Digital Communications at the University of Edinburgh.

This role is UE07 and is available on a fixed-term basis for up to 18 months.


The Opportunity:

We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work on signal processing for wireless networks research for 18 months.

The selected applicant will research advanced radar signal processing and distributed signal processing information-theoretic study of 6G wireless networks, and privacy-preserving distributed learning.

Applicants with research experience in 5G NR, real-time signal processing implementation, convex optimization techniques, stochastic geometry, statistical signal processing and beamforming (but not limited to) are encouraged to apply.


Your skills and attributes for success:

  • Knowledge of advanced radar signal processing and distributed signal processing
  • 5G NR standard
  • Wireless transceiver design and performance evaluation


  • Strong mathematics skills

  • Linear algebra/matrix theory/probability/statistics
  • FPGA implementation
  • Prototype using USRPs
  • Deep learning algorithms
