The Governing Body of St Leonard's C of E Primary school are seeking to appoint a highly skilled, motivated and experienced teaching assistant to join our inspirational and dedicated team of staff.


  • To support a pupil who has an ECHP
  • An exemplary teaching assistant with a proven track record of work in a primary school setting
  • Have a high standard of Maths and English
  • Motivating, patient, caring and considerate throughout their classroom practice<
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Able to work well as a member of a team and have adaptability and flexibility in working practices;
  • Able to nurture, motivate and develop every child through high expectations of learning, achievement, progress and behaviour;
  • Willing to engage in the wider aspects of school life

Essential Qualifications

  • Grade A
  • C at GCSE or O Levels/CSE in English & Maths (equivalent to A
  • C GCSE)
NVQ Level 2 or above qualification appropriate to the post (or working towards)Desirable Qualifications

First Aid certificateEssential Experience

  • Experience of working with children
  • Experience of working in a relevant classroom/service environment
  • Ability to relate well to children
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to relate well to parents/carers
  • Ability to supervise and assist pupils
  • Organisational skills
Knowledge of classroom roles and responsibilitiesDesirable Experience

  • Working with children who have EHCP or additional needs
  • Experience of working across different key stages or with different ages of children
