Job summary:

The Integrated Corporate Services (ICS) is a new shared corporate service, launched in July 2023.

It will provide corporate services (HR, Finance, Digital, Commercial, Security and Estates) across the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) and the Department for Science, Innovation & Skills (DSIT).

Job description:


The role and our team


This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to expand their experience in HR Operations, with a focus on project delivery, communication, and innovation.


The purpose of the role is to support on various HR Operations innovation projects and other BAU activities to improve the services delivery for our customers in a project working approach.


Reporting to the HR Operations Innovation Lead, you will be part of a small, friendly team in the HR Operations and People Services space.


The work of the team sits at the heart of the HR function and is very much the 'engine room' of the directorate.


We work closely with our Shared Services provider UK SBS and MyCSP on pay and pensions, continuous improvement initiatives and change projects respectively.

This role is delivery focused with a keen attention to detail.

You will be working in an agile environment support the team's work on continuous improvement activities on variety of innovation projects in HR Operations services and people practices.

You will be willing to work in projects, using project management methodologies and tools.

If you have excellent written and presentation skills, are innovative and can think outside the box, and are great with stakeholders and customers, then this role could be for you.


The role will give you a good opportunity to learn about the HR operations job family and will give you opportunities to work on CI and Innovative projects across HR, business functions and the Civil Service.

You will develop good project management skills and will be skilled at engaging stakeholders and influencing them.


This role will be a key level of support on delivering HR innovation projects and implementing output of projects with targeted and controlled timeline.

You will work with stakeholders in HR and across functions.


You will work collaboratively with HR Project Management Office to help with HR innovation project reporting and the readiness in HR function to change required when the Matrix goes live - anticipated in 2025.

A key focus of the role will be supporting the work on our Alumni Network. Managing the digital portal, developing initiatives, and supporting the Innovation lead in these endeavours. This involves acting as Moderator of the Alumni Network, pitching content ideas, researching, writing and publishing contents.

You will have enthusiasm for promoting new ideas for internal and external networking and collaboration.

This is a perfect opportunity to gain or improve your communication skills (especially valuable writing and content creation skills) to an audience that is based within and outside the Civil Service.


You can expect to manage your own work packages to support the overall output delivery of projects in line with business objectives.

You will manage senior stakeholders internally and externally in delivering these goals within targeted timelines.
