An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic patient engagement officer to support to work on a project scoping out current service provision available both within hospitals and in the community for people who have a diagnosis of cancer.

This is a 24 month, fixed term contract and will be hosted by Liverpool University Hospitals Foundation Trust.

The overall aim of this project is to increase access to a consistent universal offer of information and support. The role is also expected to ensure the voices of people affected by cancer are heard, valued and have influence throughout all areas of the programme design and deliver


The post holder will support the project lead to scope the current provision of Information & Support services and work with stakeholders to support the development of an improved model of integrated personalised cancer information and support This will include mapping existing Cancer information services and resources and helping to gain an understanding of the inherent needs of those affected by a cancer diagnosis living within a diverse and deprived area and how Macmillan information and support services can improve the experience for those and their loved ones.


Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was created on 1 October 2019 following the merger of two adult acute Trusts, Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.


The merger provides an opportunity to reconfigure services in a way that provides the best healthcare services to the city and improves the quality of care and health outcomes that patients experience.

The Trust runs Aintree University Hospital, Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and the Royal Liverpool University Hospital.


It serves a core population of around 630,000 people across Merseyside as well as providing a range of highly specialist services to a catchment area of more than two million people in the North West region and beyond.

Build and maintain an effective working relationship with the Programme
Lead and the Project Team and all other internal and external professionals.

  • The post holder will be required to build and maintain effective working
relationships with people affected by cancer LUHFT, participating local trusts,
community services, social Care Professionals and the third sector.

  • Present information about the programmes user involvement strategy
to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in informal and
formal settings.

  • Link with managers and members of other user involvement initiatives to work
in collaboration.

  • Employ effective communication, negotiation and influencing skills with
stakeholders at all levels.

  • Support collaborative working within user involvement working groups
and other groups as required.
