    We are inviting applications from aspirational cancer or gynaecology nurses who have a passion for delivering holistic support to women referred to West Suffolk Hospital on the suspected gynaecology cancer pathway or with a confirmed gynaecology oncology diagnosis .

    You will work within the MDT delivering specialist nursing care to women as part of the Women's and Children's Division at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust in Suffolk.

    We are looking for a forward thinking, highly motivated individual offering specialist support to improve the quality of life for women in our care.

    You will be working in a small, friendly team alongside another oncology nurse specialist.

    This job is a full time post, but we would be happy to consider part time hours. Banding will depend on experience. Band 6 as a training post or Band 7 if you come with prior clinical skills.

    The post holder will be keen to face challenges, be well organised and actively participating in service development through audit and peer review, helping to drive and sustain new initiatives to meet local and national standards, as well as ensuring care meets our own Trust values.

    In return for your commitment, the successful candidate will be offered professional support.

    This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to gain advanced clinical skills training such as pelvic / vaginal examinations.

    It may also be possible to take on the BSCCP colposcopy training or the Nurse Hysteroscopy course. Experience of working in nurse led clinics would also be advantageous.


    STAFF CAR PARKING


    Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 - 18:30.


    For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital.

    Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.


    This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete on call duties within their role.

    Accepts and makes referrals from and to other professional as necessary, e.g. - Palliative Care Team, Allied Health Professionals, social services, community care teams.

    To triage the internal referrals prior to being reviewed by a consultant and to visit the patients as needed within the hospital setting.

    Controls and manages caseload whilst ensuring patients complete care pathways appropriately and in accordance with government guidelines and targets.

    Acts as a point of contact for the patients and their families, other health care professionals and the community for advice and support.

    Experience in gynaecology or oncology
    ~ Educated to degree level plus specialist training to masters level or equivalent

    Counselling skills qualification or willingness to undertake
    Gynaecological oncology nursing course
    Experience of working with Oncology or gynaecology patients
    Commitment to undertake further specialist training
    Ability to develop nursing excellence and clinical practice
    Ability to take endometrial biopsies or a willingness to take training

    Evidence of professional development and its relevant application
    Computer literate

    Experience of developing, training and education in clinical practice

    Flexible to change in demands or service
    Demonstrate commitment to quality service provision
    Ability to travel within the West Suffolk area
