Business Development Executive, Transport

Business Development Executive.

We are looking for a Business Development Executive to work with the Global Head of BD for Transport who is based in London.


The Business Development Executive, Transport will support the development of our market leading Transport sector group, which comprises three sub-sector groups: Aviation, Rail and Shipping.


There will be significant interaction with our international offices particularly our regional Transport BD teams in Asia, Australia, Canada, South African and the US.


The Role
Global projects and campaigns


Supporting the Global Head of BD for Transport on specific marketing and business development initiatives, which use the full marketing mix to raise and maintain awareness of our global Transport sector capability.

Activities will include coordinating and assisting with global marketing campaigns in order to strengthen existing relationships and develop new client opportunities, by:

  • Monitoring actions agreed in business and client plans and in project meetings and assisting fee earners in meeting their BD commitments.
  • Meeting coordination for the relevant sector and subsector groups, including working with trainees in the production of supporting materials (i.e. agendas, minutes etc.). Monitoring and following up on actions agreed in those meetings.
  • Working alongside fee earners to agree target client lists for campaigns and projects.
  • Working with fee earners to deliver content for campaigns (i.e. presentations, webinars, articles, blog posts).
  • Drafting and designing marketing materials (i.e. invitations, website pages, social media posts), working alongside our Brand, Design and Creative and Communications teams.
  • Full event management and delivery, in coordination with departmental secretaries and / or Central Events team.
  • Monitoring and reporting on Return On Investment.
Client development


Assist with the development of opportunities with global and regional key clients, as well as target clients of the Transport practice.


Activities include:

  • Preparing and producing bespoke bids, panel pitches and other client development presentations (formal and informal). Involves drafting and editing text where necessary; coordinating international contributions (such as CVs, team details, experience, etc.),and maintaining library of sector relevant bid content in collaboration with the central Strategic Bids team.
  • Provide support to relationship partners on select key and panel clients (i.e. coordinating quarterly client team meetings, monitoring and following up on actions agreed in those meetings, and ensuring service commitments are met).
  • Preparing and coordinating the production/updating of sector and subsector experience statements, credentials materials and other client marketing collateral.
  • Conducting sector or organization research, liaising with the Library where necessary.
Corporate Communications


Ensure all marketing communications channels are exploited to convey consistent messages about the practice, our capabilities and experience - including the use of social media - in consultation with the communications and digital teams.


Tasks include:

  • Maintaining the Transport website and Intranet pages.
  • Championing social media to promote the Transport sector and subsector groups across LinkedIn and Twitter.
  • Using internal communications channels to raise awareness of Transport sector activity and opportunities.
  • Assisting with drafting legal directories submissions.
  • Providing information to the communications team to assist with the drafting of press releases and internal announcements.
  • Ensuring on
- and off-line sector marketing collateral is compliant with the firm's visual identity guidelines, working in conjunction with the Brand, Creative and Design team.

Business development operations

  • Working with our Global Service Centre and EMEA Marketing Services teams, which provide Business Development support from Manila and Newcastle.
  • Promoting the use of business development systems including InterAction (CRM), Experience Management, bids and CV databases for supporting initiatives such as direct mail, events, bids, key client and target programmes, experience statement compilation,league table and legal directory submissions.
  • Integrating the use of BD systems into all activity according to global best practice.
Any other duties as required.


Skills and Experience Required

  • Graduate calibre
  • Selfstarter with ability to use initiative
  • Relevant marketing and organizational experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong research and analytical skills
  • Sound working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Experience of business development systems
  • Ability to work across time zones, multi task and manage multiple deadlines
  • Ability to quickly build trust amongst immediate team and across the business
  • Strong written and oral communication skillsAbility to work indepe
