- Working with Language Models, including third-party options and local models.
- Staying abreast of the latest industry developments, experimenting with new models, and sharing insights.
- Scaling models for production use.

- Writing clean, modular code with proper documentation and tests.

- Experience in text data for predictive model building.

- 2-3 years of software engineering experience (Python, SQL, Unix systems, git, github).

- Familiarity with Language Models, including industry-standard options like BERT and GPT.
- Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field.

You'll be part of a global team of inquisitive, supportive, and innovative scientists and engineers, all dedicated to creating state-of-the-art Machine Learning systems. Your main task will be collaborating with product and engineering teams throughout Turnitin to seamlessly integrate Machine Learning across various learning, teaching, and integrity products.
We have a unique opportunity to deploy Machine Learning for hundreds of thousands of educators teaching millions of students worldwide. Your work will have a significant global impact. The Turnitin platform has processed billions of papers, graded hundreds of millions of answers on Gradescope and Examsoft platforms. Machine Learning is the driving force behind our AI Writing detection system, providing automated feedback on student writing, analyzing authorship, transforming assessment creation and grading processes, as well as supporting various back-end operations.
Responsibilities and Requirements
We are looking for versatile Senior Machine Learning Scientists with a diverse skill set. Your primary focus will be on model training, involving research to develop innovative model architectures, constructing datasets, and ensuring models are production-ready.
